A Big Day!!

Hello Fellow Tripawds –

I can’t thank you enough for all the posts.  They make my pawrents feel better and realize I am going to bounce back quickly.   They seem very worried about me.

I had a very big day today.  First, I tried to jump up on the sofa, and my pawrents got all freaked out because they thought I would hurt myself.  My Papa came to visit and of course spoil me rotten.  I’ve got him wrapped around my little paw.  He gave me table scraps when Mommy and Daddy weren’t looking.  He brought me some new toys before the surgery and I even felt good enough to squeak the racoon for him.

After lunch, we all went outside.  And guess what I did – I pooped:)  Mommy, Daddy and Papa all got very excited.  I don’t know what the big deal was, I’ve been pooping outside for over 9 years now.  I guess that was all the excitement I could handle for the day because I then slept all afternoon.

My doctor called to check in on me today and we scheduled my first chemo treatment for next week.  I want to make sure all that nasty cancer is gone.

Thanks for your suggestions on how to avoid the cone of shame.  I have actually conned my daddy into carrying me upstairs at night so I can sleep in their bedroom:)

Hugs and kisses, Ginger

It must be something in the name!! Our Ginger hated the cone thing too. She got away with wearing it for a total of about 2 hours! She was gooood at making us feel bad for her! I haven’t spent much time on this computer recently, but now I am all caught up. Congratulations for flying through the surgery and good luck with that chemo next week. You seem to be doing great so far. Those first 2 weeks really are the hardest. Hang in there! Sending lots of hugs!

Yea Ginger that you pooped! My mom went crazy following me around everywhere to make sure I did my business on schedule after my surgery. If it was a little off, she’d freak. So completely understand what you’re going thru with these crazy, overprotective pawrents.
Glad to hear that you’re feeling better. BTW, keep milking your surgery for all you can get….after awhile when they see you healing they’re going to be making you do a lot of this stuff on your own (like no more dad carrying you up the stairs.) It’s also a good time to get a lot of your favorite foods and treats in …they’ll have so much concern for you and won’t want to see you suffer in any way….so this is the time – go for it!
Wishing you a smooth and speedy recovery 🙂
Lots of golden hugs from your golden friends.

What a big day! Sounds like you are feeling better already! Good to hear! Remember don’t overdue because you do feel good we have experience that you pay for it the next day. You don’t want to feel yucky tomorrow! Enjoy life and your family and go ask for some treats! Keep up that pooping in the backyard 🙂 ! Crazy pawrents get excited over the littlest things maybe they will even give you a treat for pooping!?!?! Worked for my brother Peyton!

I’m tellin’ ya…pawrents get excited about poop because there is gold in it! Keep an eye on them Ginger. I’ll bet if they haven’t already collected your poop they will in the near future.

    Hang in there! Opie

PS Dillon is right, start making your pawrents give you a treat for everything you do because you deserve it and since you lost a leg, you will need to put that weight back on some how, right?

i remember when i first jumped up on the sofa by myself, my don looked like he was gonna cry he was so moved (kinda like the last dance of the chief…). keep getting better, and remember to nap!!
